How Can I Make Tournament Day Easy For Matt & Kaylee?
· Carpool. There is
literally nothing that can make this day easier for Kaylee & I. If you know
you’re driving by someone else’s house & you have room, it’s a no-brainer.
If you want to start making plans early to do this, post in the group &
offer to drive/find a ride. The lesser cars in the driveway, yard & street
the better!
· Can’t Carpool? Get dropped off, Walk or
Uber/Lyft. An Uber/Lyft is
a dependable DD when necessary! Or if you can get dropped off, or live nearby…
Consider these options! Pretend you’re back in high school & have your
parents bring your ass to the show.
· Don’t Invite Others. This tournament is only for the
teams in it. This isn’t a party, the extra noise & risk isn't one we prefer to take on.
· Be On Time. The brackets are decided so be aware of where you play. If you aren't there for roll call, you may get bumped by a back-up team if I'm not in the loop on whereabouts. Rule questions will be
addressed, tournament plans will be told & the National Anthem will be
sung, so please be courteous & punctual.
· Unity. Dress like your partner. You’re a
team! Have a theme! Be creative.
· Bring Cash/Venmo/PayPal. The tournament fee is $10.00 per team & the fee for unlimited
pizza between 2pm & 4pm is $12.00 per
head. Those who do not have cash or Venmo/PayPal me for the entrance fee will forfeit their
spot in the tournament.
· Bring Beer & A Cooler. Your team is responsible for your
alcohol because everyone has their own preference. Each game of Beer Pong
requires two beers split amongst ten cups, so please bring what is necessary.
DO NOT steal beer from other teams unless you are given permission. If you do
not drink beer, your cups need to have another form of alcohol with equal or
greater content levels. This creates an even playing field.
· Wear Your Pizza Wristband. The wristband you receive when you
purchase the $12 pizza pass is how you GET pizza. ‘Slice Of New Haven’ will be
checking for wristbands at the truck, so please wear it the whole two hours. PLEASE DO NOT use your wristband to
feed those who didn’t purchase one. If you are caught doing this, you will
forfeit your spot in the tournament. And to be honest it's really, really rude if you do that. Shame on you.
· Follow The Rules. There is a rule sheet for a reason,
follow it. If something isn’t on there or you have a question, find our referee. If
someone is cheating (A serious offense), they/I need to know.
· Don’t Be A Distraction. If people are playing in the
tournament & it’s not your turn, don’t be a distraction. You wouldn’t want
someone doing it when you’re playing, so don’t do it to someone else.
· Lose Gracefully. Some of us take the tournament a
little more serious than others, but please lose gracefully. Don’t argue as
rules are rules. Blaming others for playing bad & causing arguments is a
waste of time. If someone is too drunk to play, they will be eliminated from competition.
· Do Not Drive Drunk. I know some of you are “experts”
& “do it all the time”, but no. Please be safe. It’s an unnecessary risk
& if we carpooled/uber’d/got rides appropriately, we shouldn’t have to
worry. And if worst comes to worst, Kaylee & I have adequate space for
people to sleep. Just ask previous drunkards!
· Have Fun. The older we get the less we do
things of this magnitude. Try & enjoy yourself even after you lose, it’s
not necessarily about winning… Well, it can be.
